Echoes on neljästä valaistusta pleksilevystä ja niiden kehyksistä koostuva taideteos, jossa ääni ja visuaalisuus yhdistyvät. Pleksilevyihin laserkaiverretut kuvat esittävät hylättyjä paikkoja Oulusta. Jokainen kuva kertoo tarinan siitä, miten rakennukset voivat ajan myötä rappeutua ja menettää elinvoimansa.
Teoksen tavoitteena on herättää ajatuksia siitä, millä tavoin kohtaamme vanhat ja käyttämättömät rakennukset kaupunkimaisemassa. Mitä ne kertovat meistä? Samalla teos toimii rapistuneisuuden estetiikan kunnianosoituksena.
Kehysten koristeet ovat tiivistettyjä tulkintoja pleksilevyjen paikoista – eräänlaisia pienoismonumentteja. Teoksen äänimaailma tukee kokemusta: se sisältää sijainteihin sopivia tunnelmaääniä ja synesteettisiä sävelmiä elektronisen uusklassisen ja ambientin tyylilajeissa. Jokaiselle kuvatulle paikalle on luotu oma äänellinen segmenttinsä.

Echoes is an artwork composed of four illuminated plexiglass panels and their frames, where sound and visual elements come together. The laser-engraved images on the plexiglass depict abandoned places in Oulu. Each image tells a story of how buildings can deteriorate and lose their vitality over time.
The aim of the artwork is to evoke thoughts about how we perceive old and unused buildings in the urban landscape. What do they say about us? At the same time, the piece serves as an homage to the aesthetics of decay.
The frame decorations are condensed interpretations of the locations on the plexiglass panels – a kind of miniature monument. The soundscape enhances the experience: it features atmospheric sounds and synesthetic melodies fitting the locations, blending styles of electronic neoclassical and ambient music. Each depicted place has its own unique auditory segment.
